This is the key finding of the MECSPE Observatory presented at MECSPE Bari (27\u201329 November, Fiera del Levante), a meeting place for companies, institutions and training bodies aimed at building synergies and accelerating growth paths through next-generation technologies and skills.<\/em>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”custom” accent_color=”#006633″][vc_column_text]Bari, 28 November 2025<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 With yesterday\u2019s deadline, on 27 November 2025, the window for companies to submit applications for access to the Transition 5.0 tax credit has officially closed<\/strong>. As shown by previous editions of the MECSPE Observatory, these incentives have been a crucial lever: 7 out of 10 companies made investments that they would not have been able to afford without such support<\/strong>. At a time when technological innovation is a key factor in maintaining competitiveness<\/strong>, a new phase is beginning for Italian manufacturing companies, in which digital skills take on a central role. Robotics and intelligent automation are the most frequently cited needs by companies (44%), followed by programming and the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning (41%), Big Data analysis and management (39%), and industrial cybersecurity (29%).<\/p>\n

This is the snapshot captured by the MECSPE Observatory for the second four-month period of 2025<\/strong>, which confirms that almost 6 out of 10 companies report having reached a good level of digital maturity<\/strong>. The Italian manufacturing sector is making significant progress in transforming production processes, but one critical issue remains: the difficulty of finding qualified personnel with advanced digital skills. This challenge makes events such as MECSPE even more essential in creating connections between the world of education and businesses<\/strong>. These skill areas are not merely technical support functions but the pillars of the transformation underway in Italian factories, where companies are redefining priorities and strategies to remain competitive<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The main trends in the sector confirm this direction: automation and robotics lead with 47% of company preferences, followed by digitalization and process interconnection at 41%, mass customization and tailor-made production at 27%, the energy transition and reduced consumption at 25%, and environmental sustainability and low-impact processes at 22%.<\/p>\n
